Onions – Pickling

Approximately 15 onions per kg.

Selection: Pickling onions are typically small, about 1 to 2 inches in diameter. They are usually round and can be either white or yellow.

Preparation: Pickling onions are often used as a condiment or side dish. They are popular in British cuisine, often served with fish and chips. The onions are typically brined in salt water to draw out moisture before being submerged in a vinegar solution with spices.

And tastes so good: Pickling onions have a tangy, slightly sweet flavor due to the vinegar and spices used in the pickling process. They retain a crunchy texture. Common spices used in pickling include mustard seeds, coriander seeds, black peppercorns, and bay leaves.

Storage: Once pickled, the onions are stored in jars and can be kept for several months
