Selection: Flat mushrooms are the largest in the white mushroom family, often growing to over 10 cm (4 inches) in diameter. As they mature, their caps flatten and open up, revealing the gills underneath. This gives them their characteristic flat appearance. They typically have a white to light brown color, with the gills underneath being a darker brown.

Preparation: Flat mushrooms are highly versatile in the kitchen. They can be grilled, roasted, sautéed, or used in soups and stews. Their ability to absorb flavors makes them perfect for marinating and adding depth to various dishes.

Good for you: Like other mushrooms, flat mushrooms are low in calories but high in essential nutrients such as B vitamins, selenium, and potassium. They also contain antioxidants that help protect cells from damage.
